Final grades for fall semester 2018 classes should all be posted to HUB between now and the first week of January.
You will earn a grade for each class that you take at UB. Your grade point average (GPA) is the ratio of the number of grade points earned to the number of graded credits.
Access to Grade Information
Students may access their grades for a specific semester, or a complete record of their grades, in one of two ways:
Approximate dates each semester that grades are reported on the official transcript are:
- Fall grades available first week in January.
- Winter grades available first week in February.
- Spring grades available third week in May.
- Summer grades available third week in August.

Late Registration Fee
Continuing students are required to maintain their enrollment each term. Students who are not registered for at least 1 course for credit on December 20, 2018 will be charged a $40 late registration fee. This is non-negotiable and must be paid.
All new students should be registered by the first day of classes for the term. A $40 late registration fee will be charged to any student who is not registered on the first day of classes, but who subsequently registers. This fee will apply to all students including those who receive late admission to the university.
The last day for new UB students to enroll for the Spring 2019 term without a $40 late registration fee is January 27, 2019.
Spring Billing Dates
Students will receive up to four eBills during the spring term. An email containing the navigation to your eBill will be sent to your @buffalo.edu email address after 4:45 p.m. EST on the billing date. You may view your current account activity in your HUB Student Center.
It is your responsibility to check your UB email. Failure to view your eBill will not be accepted as a reason to waive the late payment fee.
eBills do not change when activity occurs AFTER the eBill is posted. New activity details will be available on the Account Inquiry screen in your HUB Student Center.
The dates below represent when billing statements will be generated for any unpaid balances or additional activity since the last billing. Payment is due in full by the first due date. If you do not pay the balance owed, you will receive a late fee. All payments must be posted by 6 p.m. (EST) on a payment due date. Please note that the four billing dates are NOT a payment plan.

For grading purposes each letter grade has a specific grade point value:
A = 4.00 (High Distinction)
A- = 3.67 (High Distinction)
B+ = 3.3 (Superior)
B = 3.00 (Superior)
B- = 2.67 (Superior)
C+ = 2.33 (Average)
C = 2.00 (Average)
C- = 1.67 (Average)
D+ = 1.33 (Minimum Passing Grade)
D = 1.00 (Minimum Passing Grade)
F = 0.00 (Failure)
To review UB’s Grading policies refer to the Undergraduate Catalog: Grading Section – Explanation of Grades.
Computing a Grade Point Average (gpa)
To compute a grade point average, determine the total number of “Letter Graded credit hours”. Then determine the Grade Points earned for each course (number of credit hours multiplied by the Grade Point value for that Letter grade). Next, add up the grade points earned for each course. Finally, divide the total number of grade points earned by the total number of “letter grade credit hours”.

Where to find your Grades in HUB
You will find your grades by term/semester via the HUB My Grades link. When reviewing your grades you may also want to view the Undergraduate Catalog – Explanation of Grades section.
Computing a Grade Point Average
- Determine the number of Grade Points Earned for each course. Formula: (number of credit hours for the course) x (Grade Point Value for the Letter Grade)
- Find the total number of Letter Graded Credit Hours
- Divide the Total Grade Points Earned by the Total Number of Credit hours. Ex: 56.35 / 26.0 = 2.17gpa
