Undergraduate Research Fair: Innovate…Create…Celebrate

Friday, September 14
Noon – 3:00 p.m.
Oscar A. Silverman Library, Capen Hall

Undergraduate research experiences engage you in hands-on projects, as you work closely with faculty mentors in laboratories, research centers, and independent environments. You will apply concepts and theories, extend your knowledge and competencies, sharpen problem solving, communication, and collaborative skills. Through these experiences, students often refine their academic and professional interests, and build toward scholarships, fellowships and graduate opportunities.

Within our changing economy, employers are increasingly prioritizing innovation, problem solving, team work, and communication; many of the same skills that are developed through mentored research experiences. Attend interactive workshops providing inside information about maximizing and leveraging research experiences toward academic and professional success. Workshops will be held in 107 Capen Hall inside the Oscar A. Silverman Library and will include:

  • Noon – 12:50 p.m.: Workforce 2020: Career Skills for The New Economy
  • 1:00 – 1:50 p.m.: Finding a Research Opportunity through CURCA | Research Leads to Fellowships and Scholarships
  • 2:00 – 2:50 p.m.: Faculty Perspectives on Undergraduate Research

Students from all majors and disciplines are encouraged to attend and can pre-register at

Sponsored by the Undergraduate Research Team: CADS, CURCA, SEAS, Undergraduate Academies, UB Honors College and UB Libraries.
